The window hardware is the mechanism that enables opening, tilting, closing, and locking. If it stops functioning properly, it can affect not only the ease of use but also insulation and security. In many cases, there’s no need to replace the entire mechanism – a professional repair or part replacement is often enough to extend the window’s life without unnecessary expense.

When is repair sufficient and when is a replacement necessary?

Repair is enough when:

• The window is hard to open or close

• The handle is stuck or loose

• The window doesn’t seal properly (reduced compression)

• Hardware is noisy, dirty, or dry

• A small part is loose or slightly damaged

A proper tightening of screws, cleaning, greasing with acid-free professional oil, pressure adjustment (e.g. summer/winter mode), or minor part replacement (pins, locks, rollers) is usually sufficient.

Replacement is needed when:

• Hardware is broken, bent, or cracked

• Parts are missing or beyond repair

• The original model is discontinued

• Security locking functions no longer work
